In the heavens the constellation Pisces appears as a fish swimming in the waters that pour from the vessel bourn by Aquarius. The Mystical sign of Pisces is the seeker of spiritual knowledge and wisdom. Positioned as the 12th sign of the zodiac and represented as two fish swimming in opposite directions, Pisces symbolizes the internal struggle of the soul in search of personal truth and enlightenment. The fish are depicted swimming away from each other, continuing life after life, acquiring accrued wisdom and understanding gained in multitudes of incarnations.

The dualistic nature of the Piscean personality can be likened to the ocean with its constant ebb and flow, back and forth, straddled between the realm of physical, material reality and the abstract eternal unfolding of Divine Consciousness. It’s natural for Pisces, in their highest vibration, to possess a vivid imagination, powerful intuition and a creative drive that seeks expression through the arts, spirituality and humanitarian causes. Often seeming shy and hesitant, people of the Fish Clan are willing to recede and allow the opportune moment to arrive before taking action.

In personal relationships Pisces make good partners, being of a loyal and caring nature. The Piscean is generally attuned to their mate, family and friends through their uncanny intuitive and psychic gift (often unawares, because it has become their second nature).

Those of the sign of the Fish are usually sensitive, humane and idealistic. People born under this sign respond to life emotionally, making them compassionate and sensitive to the world they inhabit. Rather than taking an analytical approach to life, Pisces people react to the feelings of other, which can make them very influential in situations... when they choose to be. Being able to read and react to people and situations make Pisces one of the most adaptable signs in the zodiac.

When a Pisces individual approaches life from their baser, ego-nature they can easily slide into narcissism and become extremely manipulative, elusive and deceitful. Because of their high level of skill in “reading” others they often gain power over their friends, family and peers and use their skills to achieve a less than worthy agenda of self-gratification and debauchery. The other attributes of the lower vibration of the Fish Clan is vacillation, self-pity and all forms of self-indulgence: gluttony, avarice and drug addiction.

"Pisces the Fishes, are the German Fische, the Italian Pesci, the French Poissons, the Anglo-Norman Peisun, and the Anglo-Saxon Fixas. The Greeks knew them as Ιχθύε, and Ιχθύες, in the dual and the plural; the Romans as we do, often designating them as Imbrifer Duo Pisces, Gemini Pisces, and Pisces Gemellus. Classic authors said Aquilonius, sometimes Aquilonaris; and very appropriately, for the Aquilo of the Romans, perhaps derived from aqua, or aquilus, signified a rain-bringing wind from the north, and well represented the supposed watery character of the constellation, as also its northerly position.

It has also been found on Euphratean remains as Nuni, the Fishes, a supposed equivalent of its other title, Zib, of the later Graeco-Babylonian astronomy. Another signification is the Water, as with Atl, the Aztec's name for Pisces.

In the earliest Chinese astronomy, with Aquarius, Capricornus and a part of Sagittarius, it was the northern of the four quarters of the zodiac, the Dark Warrior, or the residence of the Dark, or Northern Emperor; but later in their zodiac of the twelve figures, it was the Pig, Tseu Tsze; and after the Jesuits, Shwang Yu, the Two Fishes.

The Fish

In a cool curving world he lies
And ripples with dark ecstasies.
